Testimonials

On 3/13/2026 Steve Joos had this to say:
Roberto took my call and helped me immediately. He got me an early the next day he got me out early as well. I was very impressed by everything there. He got me out the door cheaper than you had quoted me. That never happens anymore. I highly recommend.

On 1/24/2026 Jake F. had this to say:
Finding an honest mechanic you can trust can be a daunting task. My girlfriend I moved down to the area recently and obviously had to find a new one. My girlfriend's car had some issues, the main being the catalytic converter went bad, and the ball joints were loose also. She originally brought the car to another local joint and they quoted us $2500 just for the converter. After doing some research on neighborhood Facebook pages and making some calls, I fell on bringing the car to Book Racing. I tried calling another recommended local joint for a quote, and I never received a response. Roberto was incredibly attentive and quick. He walked me through various options on the converter such as different prices for the front or rear, and the difference between factory or aftermarket parts. He called me back a couple times to seal the deal. At the end of it we were quoted about $1800 for the converter and ball joints. A gigantic saving that made the repair easier to chew. We even received the car quicker than expected! The repair is also under a 3 year warranty. We'll be going here for any future issues!

I always go there for my oil changes. A wonderful staff very friendly. And if you have other things that go wrong with your car like I have for the two past months, they will figure out what’s wrong with it and fix it. Roberto does a great job and I’m so happy that they fixed my car.

FAQ

How do you diagnose check engine lights?
Utilizing advanced diagnostic tools, we interpret your vehicle's error codes to accurately identify the underlying issues and provide effective solutions.
What services do you offer for mufflers and exhaust systems?
We conduct thorough inspections, repairs, and replacements of mufflers and exhaust components to ensure optimal performance and compliance with emissions standards.
What maintenance is recommended for belts and hoses?
Regular inspections for wear, cracks, or leaks are essential, and we recommend replacements based on your vehicle's specific schedule to prevent breakdowns. How often should I get a coolant flush?
How often should I get a coolant flush?
A coolant flush is typically recommended every 30,000 miles or as specified by your vehicle's manufacturer to prevent overheating and ensure efficient cooling.
Do you offer any discounts or partnerships with car rental services?
Yes, we proudly offer Enterprise Car Rental discounts, allowing you to seamlessly maintain your mobility while your vehicle receives the care it needs.
Do you help with Illinois emissions test failures or Check Engine Light issues?
Yes. If your vehicle fails an Illinois emissions test or the Check Engine Light comes on, we perform advanced diagnostics to identify the root cause—not just clear codes. Our repairs are focused on resolving the issue so your vehicle is properly prepared for retesting and long-term reliability.
How do Midwest road conditions affect alignments and suspension systems?
Potholes, construction zones, and winter freeze-thaw cycles common in Frankfort and surrounding counties can quickly knock your alignment out of spec and wear suspension components. If you notice uneven tire wear, pulling, or steering wheel vibration, we recommend an alignment and suspension inspection to prevent costly tire replacements.
Do you service light trucks and work vehicles used for towing or hauling?
Absolutely. We regularly service light trucks and vehicles used for towing, landscaping, and contractor work. From brake and transmission service to steering, suspension, and cooling systems, we help keep work vehicles dependable under heavier loads and daily use.
Should I change my maintenance schedule for Illinois winters and summers?
Yes. Extreme temperature swings in Northern Illinois can affect batteries, coolant systems, tires, and engine performance. We recommend seasonal maintenance checks, including battery testing, coolant flushes, brake inspections, and tire condition reviews, to avoid breakdowns during extreme weather.
Can I bring my own parts, and how does that affect warranties?
We’re happy to discuss customer-supplied parts on a case-by-case basis. However, parts provided by the shop typically come with manufacturer warranties and allow us to stand fully behind both parts and labor. Using outside parts may limit warranty coverage, which we’ll always explain upfront.
